Local Governments and Boards
For nearly 40 years, SSE&C has been actively involved in litigating matters on behalf of urban and suburban public clients, large and small. Among many other categories, SSE&C attorneys have extensive experience in the defense of civil rights claims of all kinds in the state and federal courts, Title 59 defense, all aspects of employment litigation, election matters, planning and zoning matters, commercial and construction litigation, and specialized litigation going to the proper exercise of governmental authority.
SSE&C attorneys have successfully represented public sector clients in hundreds of proceedings before the state and federal courts of New Jersey (through and including the appellate and Supreme Courts of New Jersey and United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals), the Office of Administrative Law, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Public Employment Relations Commission.
Notwithstanding the firm’s wide experience, our attorneys seek to avoid litigation and provide advice and counsel designed to avoid legal problems and litigation, while aggressively safeguarding each public body’s legal rights.
